Orange Glory

Bill and I had a our tasting this afternoon with our caterer Orange Glory! Please excuse the not so great iPhone photo.

The food is unbelievable! I could not be more excited! Bill and I both like (I like, Bill LOVES) to cook, and we wanted to have all of our favorite foods at our wedding. We decided to go with heavy grazing throughout the night – letting everybody taste everything! Here is the menu we finalized this afternoon:

Tequila lime shrimp cocktail * chicken salad bites * fruit and cheese * mini lentil burgers with a chipotle mayo * crab cakes with a spicy remoulade * grilled veggie pizzas * grilled BBQ chicken pizzas * grilled chorizo and caramelized onion pizzas * sliders with assorted sauces * chicken satay with dipping sauce * mini mac and cheese * mini twice baked potatoes * iceberg wedge salad * asparagus and prosciutto bundles with lemon and asiago.

And the dessert! We are going to have mini cupcakes, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, and chocolate chip cookies, as well as an assortment of brownies, macaroons and candy! I can’t wait to design the dessert bar!

Amy Atlas of Amy Atlas Events is an inspiration! How great is this candy/dessert bar?

The details are in the bathroom

I think that is exactly what a couple’s wedding is all about! The details they use to make it their own! Because I am a detailed oriented person (in a sick sort of way), I am having TONS of fun planning the day, down to the toilet paper in the bathrooms (not really, well – ok, kinda)!

Yes, Bill and I have to rent portable, wedding grade (I guess that means nice) bathrooms. This job has been assigned to my main man, but let me tell you that I definitely want to see one of these so called “wedding grade” restrooms. Can you imagine on the day of the wedding, a trailer drops off 2 bright blue porta potties? I think I would die! The last thing I would need is for Grandma or Grandpa to be tipped over in one of these bad boys!

In any case, I want to make sure that even the bathrooms at our wedding are themed to the rest of the fiesta! If that means orange and pink hand towels, soap to match and an assortment of goodies as you leave the loo, then so be it!

The one thing I have learned about having a wedding at a private residence is you lose the management that comes along with the location. Bill and I are the managers of the Williams/Rietz nuptials, and it is a little more difficult than I had anticipated, BUT a very FUN difficult!

Yeah! It’s here! Friday, Friday, Friday!

I love Fridays and I love my wedding binder/organizer/planner from Target!

I am not sure what I would do without it! It has all these great tabs for organizing everything: budget, ceremony, reception, reciepts, guest list – you name it, it’s in there! It even has an awesome guide on what to register for! I looked on Target’s website to find a link for any “brides-to-be” to purchase but could not find it! Head to your local Target and look in the stationery wedding section, it’s there!

Cheers to you my most awesome, fantastic, super cool wedding planner!

A friends wedding!

One of my best friends, Ms. Erica Norris is getting married June 5, 2009 at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in CO. You have to check out this website – what a cool place! Instead of having me as a bridesmaid, I was honored to have been asked to help plan the wedding. As Erica puts it I am her “go to girl”!

Erica’s colors are blue and orange. I created this inspiration board for her to see my vision!

The top row of images are courtesy of the knot. I love Erica’s idea for favors. Erica and her soon to be hubbie are going to donate to a breast cancer charity in honor of Erica’s mom. The deep persimmon jumper is from JCrew as well as the cool leather flip flops (JCrew never disappoints)! The incredible sunset is a photo I found on flickr from kawkawpa! I am all for thinking outside the box when it comes to boutonnieres. Check out Lalalaurie on etsy.com. She creates one of a kind bouts for any groomsman! Plus – it never wilts! The flower on the bottom row, center is a scarlet begonia (I could not give credit to this photo, supposedlt the webpage is gone). Lastly is another image from the knot, a great idea for a bridal bouquet!

The winner is….

I got up early this morning to do the drawing! I took everyone’s name, put it on a piece of paper, folded it and put all the entry’s in one of Bill’s hats. I then put the hat on the floor and let Matty (my pup) pull one out.

The winner is #11 Ninou!

Ninou, please email me at meredithkwilliams{at}yahoo{dot}com so I can get your address and mail you your $20 gift card to Paper-Source! Congratulations!

Friday is here – wahoooo!

I love Fridays and I love all things vintage and recycled! I came across Foundling on etsy and fell in love!  Betsy (founder) is “inspired by old and forgotten things”. Foundling utilizes vintage, found, recycled or re purposed materials.  Her items make you wonder what story or tale lies behind each item before it becomes your own. I really like the poppy boutonnieres and hair clips!

Cheers to you Foundling!

My personal inspiration board for our wedding!

I see all these inspiration boards when I make my daily blog rounds, and I figured I would create my own to keep me inspired and not overwhelmed! I have found that it is very easy to go off path. The goal of this inspiration board is for just that purpose: to keep me inspired!

The geometric circle fabric is titled “Disco Dot” from Tonic Living. The beautiful orange bouquet is posted on the knot and the pop pom table setting are compliments of Martha Stewart Weddings. I found the daisy hairpin (I may have to order a few) on etsy. The gerber daisy photos were taken by my sweet sister Lauren. I love this sweet little black cocktail dress from JCrew as well as the shoes! Cute mini photo books are from Paper Source (remember the giveaway drawing is tomorrow at midnight)! And Louloubell never disappoints with the most awesome zipper pouches. I love this one in the classic damask print! These calligraphy samples on etsy inspired me to research taking calligraphy lessons!

Enjoy!
